Specializing in North Carolina style barbecue, all our meats are smoked in-house low & slow. Our BBQ sauces are made from scratch and are Gluten-Free. We offer a North Carolina style Vinegar Dip sauce that has a little spice or a Sweet BBQ sauce to choose from. Our menu consists of pulled pork, chopped brisket, pulled chicken, pork baby back ribs, burgers and more! We also have Cheerwine. Cheerwine is a North Carolina based cherry flavored soda. We sell it by the can, case, or you can have it from the fountain machine! You can also order a Cheerwine Float (seasonal).

Sweet Carolina offers catering for your corporate or private events in the form of either trays of food or we can bring the food truck to you. We have catering birthday parties, weddings, anniversaries, teacher appreciation days, college events, car dealership events and more. Email or call us for more information.

Our restaurant seats 48-50 people. Let us hold your birthday / anniversery / corporate meetings / smaller casual wedding / repass gathering & more at our restaurant. We are also BYOB.

Our food

Sweet Carolina's meats are hickory smoked in a Southern Pride smoker for up to 16 hours at a time. After the smoking process is complete the meat is loaded directly into our warming cabinets and then onto your plate. Our signature dish is the barbecue pulled pork sandwich, that we mop on our homemade vinegar based barbecue dip and then we top it with our homemade coleslaw. It's the perfect mix of smokey, tangy and sweet flavors.

Our story

Sweet Carolina Barbecue was started by Spencer, a native North Carolinian, who had been making barbeque magic for over 20 years. After moving to New Jersey in 2013 and perfecting his meat smoking skills, he decided to find a way to feed the masses. After several years of trial and error, research, taste testing, and hard work, a food truck was born. Then a couple of years later the restaurant was opened in New Egypt, NJ. In the fall of 2019 Spencer had to make the tough decision to sell the business due to personal reasons. Luckily, his good friends, Sue and Frank, stepped up to the plate and purchased the business and are keeping his legacy alive. The restaurant was relocated to Toms River in 2023. The new location is larger with plenty of parking in the front & back of the building. We also have a food truck & a food trailer available for hire. The food truck will make your party stand out! We offer corporate and private catering.
